Focal hyperhidrosis, characterized by excessive sweating of the forehead, axilla, palms, or soles, is believed to affect approximately 1% of the population.
It’s a condition which can cause significant social discomfort and distress. And in severe cases can even lead to skin maceration.
Up until recently surgery was the only truly effective option for sufferers. But Btx injections are now proving a far more popular, non surgical option.
Treatment for excessive sweating under the armpits is the most common area for treatment.
For first time patients the problem areas are mapped using a natural dye (iodine) and corn starch. Btx is then injected into the marked areas of both armpits.
