Reduction Mammoplasty (Breast Reduction) Sydney

About the treatment

Many women experience discomfort or pain due to large, pendulous or disproportionate breasts. Also known as reduction mammoplasty, breast reduction removes excess breast tissue from the breast.

What is Reduction Mammoplasty (Breast Reduction) Surgery?

Reduction Mammoplasty (Breast Reduction) surgery, is a surgical procedure that removes excess breast tissue, fat, and skin to achieve a smaller, lighter, and more proportionate breast size.

Women who experience physical discomfort due to overly large breasts may consider reduction mammoplasty. Common reasons include:

Neck, back, and shoulder pain: The weight of large breasts can strain muscles and lead to chronic pain.
Posture problems: The weight of large breasts can affect posture, leading to hunched shoulders and neck strain.

Results

Whilst reduction mammoplasty (breast reduction) results are visible immediately after the surgery, it can take up to three months for swelling to subside. The operation will not prevent your body from adapting to the ageing process or significant weight fluctuations.

  • Remove breast tissue to reduce breast size
  • Improve physical mobility and make regular daily activities easier
  • Improved posture and treat neck, back and shoulder pain.

Pairing this treatment with Liposuction

Liposuction is a cosmetic technique used to remove excess fat under the skin by suction. It’s often combined with reduction mammoplasty (breast reduction surgery). In cases where breast size is mainly due to fatty tissue, liposuction may be used with excision techniques to remove more substantial amounts of fat. In your consultation, Dr Liew will assess whether liposuction will be necessary for your procedure. This depends on individual condition, breast composition and the amount of reduction required.
