Meloplasty (Facelift) Surgery Sydney

About the treatment

The skeletal framework of the face shrinks, and facial fat diminishes. This combined with the deterioration of skin elasticity and muscle tone can lead to the formation of skin folds, creases and jowls. The loss of definition around the jawline also causes the lower face to become heavy.

WHAT IS A MELOPLASTY (FACELIFT)?

Meloplasty is a highly advanced and complex surgical procedure. Meloplasty is designed to remove excess skin, but instead of merely stretching or pulling at loose skin, Dr Liew focuses on repositioning the skin and tissue, to restore lost volume, and lift the skin in the right direction.

A WORD FROM DR. LIEW

“A facelift should never pull the skin causing a taught and tight appearance, but rather softly reposition the tissue to where it should be. As a Specialist Plastic Surgeon, my technique of choice is always a deep plane facelift” — Dr Steven Liew.’

Am I a suitable candidate for Meloplasty Surgery?

While there are various non-surgical methods available to treat the face, facelift surgery (meloplasty) is an alternative and suitable for men and women who have:

  • A significant loss of volume, bone density and skin elasticity. As a result, the formation of jowls, skin folds and a weakened jawline.

A facelift (meloplasty), therefore, suits men and women wanting a more comprehensive change to their appearance. For those seeking improvements to specific facial areas, non-surgical alternatives such as dermal fillers or anti-wrinkle injections may be more beneficial.

The difference between meloplasty (facelift) and cervicoplasty (neck lift)

A cervicoplasty (neck lift) can be performed in conjunction with a meloplasty (facelift) for a more comprehensive treatment to the whole face. Cervicoplasty (neck lift surgery) focuses on the area below the chin and jawline and elevates the skin that drapes or hangs around the neck.

This procedure repositions skin under the chin, jawline and jowls.

The difference between Meloplasty (facelift) and Browplasty (brow lift)

Browplasty (brow lift, also known as the forehead lift), is a surgical procedure designed to address a lowered or deeply furrowed brow. While a facelift targets the lower face, a brow lift focuses on:

  • The upper portion of the face to elevate the eyebrows and smooth out the forehead.
  • It aims to correct excess skin on the eyelids and deeper lines.
  • Removing excess skin
  • Repositioning underlying muscles and tissue to eliminate deep grooves and soften creases across the forehead and nose bridge.

Browplasty (brow lift) is often combined with blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) to rejuvenate the eye and forehead area. Therefore, this treatment is suitable for those with concerns primarily around the eye, brow, and forehead areas.
