Neck Liposuction Sydney

About the treatment

Neck liposuction, also known as suction-assisted lipectomy of the submental region, is a surgical procedure that removes localised fat deposits beneath the chin and along the jawline. In some cases, depending on individual skin elasticity and healing response, the procedure may also result in limited skin retraction, which can alter the contour of the neck.

What to expect from Neck Liposuction

Neck liposuction, also referred to as suction-assisted lipectomy of the submental or lower facial region, is a surgical procedure involving the removal of localised fat deposits through small incisions using a cannula. The procedure is typically performed under either local or general anaesthesia, depending on the treatment plan and individual suitability.

  • Procedure duration: Approximately 1–2 hours

  • Estimated recovery time: Around 1–2 weeks (may vary depending on individual healing response)

Postoperative Considerations

  • Swelling and bruising: Common in the early recovery phase.

  • Temporary altered sensation: Numbness or tingling under the chin and along the jawline may occur and typically improves over time.

  • Compression garments: May be recommended to help manage swelling and support the treated area during early healing.

  • Activity modification: Strenuous exercise and heavy lifting are generally avoided during initial recovery, with return to normal activities guided by your surgeon.

  • Gradual improvement: Final changes may take several weeks to become fully apparent as swelling subsides and tissues settle.
