Gynaecomastia Sydney
About the treatment
Gynaecomastia is a benign condition characterised by the enlargement of breast tissue in males. In some cases, excess fat accumulation may also contribute to the appearance.
There are various potential causes, which can include but are not limited to:
-
Hormonal imbalances
-
Use of certain medications
-
Recreational drug use
-
Obesity
If you are concerned about symptoms or changes in breast tissue, it is important to seek advice from a qualified health practitioner for appropriate assessment and management.
What to expect from Gynaecomastia Surgery
Treatment for gynaecomastia typically involves the surgical removal of excess breast tissue and fatty deposits.
In many cases, ultrasound-assisted liposuction alone may be sufficient to address the condition. This approach often results in a shorter recovery time and less downtime.
Some patients may require a combination of liposuction and direct removal of excess breast gland tissue through a discreet, half-moon shaped incision around the areola (the darker skin surrounding the nipple).
Procedure Overview:
-
Procedure time: Approximately 1 to 1.5 hours
-
Downtime: Around 5 days, with a compression vest recommended to be worn for up to four weeks
