Facial Implants Sydney
About the treatment
Facial implants are biocompatible devices used to augment areas such as the cheeks and chin. These implants may be used to address facial asymmetry or volume deficiencies by increasing projection in targeted regions.
Implants are selected and positioned based on individual anatomical needs, with the aim of enhancing facial contours and restoring balance between facial features. Multiple facial regions can be treated with implants during the same procedure to improve overall symmetry.
Facial implant surgery may be performed alone or in combination with other surgical or non-surgical treatments, depending on the patient’s goals and clinical assessment.
What to expect from Facial Implant Surgery?
Facial implant surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation, depending on the extent of the procedure and patient factors. The surgeon will make small incisions in discreet locations, such as inside the mouth or along natural facial creases, to insert and position the implants.
The procedure duration varies depending on the number and type of implants placed, generally lasting between 1 to 3 hours. Following surgery, patients can expect swelling, bruising, and some discomfort in the treated areas. These effects usually peak within the first few days and gradually improve over several weeks.
Post-operative care includes instructions on wound care, activity restrictions, and pain management. Most patients are advised to avoid strenuous activity for several weeks and attend follow-up appointments to monitor healing.
Individual recovery times and results vary. It may take several months for the final contour and appearance to be fully apparent.
