About Vascular Laser

Vascular laser technology is a cosmetic procedure that uses targeted light energy to address the appearance of visible vessels on the skin’s surface. This may include small capillaries or other vascular irregularities that contribute to uneven skin tone. Experiences vary, and not all concerns are suitable for this treatment.

What Can Vascular Laser Address?

Vascular laser procedures may help improve the visible appearance of:

  • small surface blood vessels (telangiectasia)
  • spider veins
  • cherry angiomas
  • general redness or flushing in the skin*

*Suitability depends on individual assessment. Conditions such as rosacea or acne are medical in nature and should be discussed with a medical professional.

Disclaimer

Temporary redness, swelling, or sensitivity are common after treatment. Less common risks, such as pigment changes or scarring, will be explained during consultation. Results vary and cannot be guaranteed. A consultation with a qualified health practitioner is required to determine suitability and discuss alternatives.

What to expect from Vascular Laser Treatment

At Shape Clinic, vascular laser procedures are tailored to the individual. Some people may require more than one session, with treatments often spaced several weeks apart. The exact number of sessions depends on your skin type, the area being treated, and your practitioner’s recommendations.

After treatment, temporary redness is common. Gentle mineral makeup can usually be applied after 24 hours if needed.

Preparation and Aftercare for Vascular Laser Treatment

How to Prepare for Vascular Laser Treatment

To support safe treatment and reduce the likelihood of side effects, please follow these guidelines before your appointment (unless advised otherwise by your practitioner):

  • Avoid prescription topical Vitamin A products or hydroquinone for at least 72 hours prior.
  • Refrain from fake tanning or solarium use for 2–4 weeks before treatment.
  • Do not wax or use other hair removal methods on the treatment area.
  • Minimise direct sun exposure and apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily.
  • Avoid alcohol and caffeine for at least 24 hours before your session.

Aftercare Following Vascular Laser Treatment

Immediately after treatment, your practitioner may apply a soothing cream to the area. Temporary redness, swelling, or mild bruising are common and usually resolve within several days, although recovery times differ between individuals.

General aftercare advice may include:

  • Following any homecare instructions provided by your practitioner
  • Avoiding direct sun exposure and applying sunscreen regularly
  • Avoiding direct heat (e.g. hot showers, saunas) in the first few days
  • Sleeping with your head slightly elevated to help reduce swelling
  • Avoiding strenuous exercise for at least 72 hours post-treatment

Side effects and recovery experiences vary between individuals. Your practitioner will provide tailored preparation and aftercare advice suited to your needs. These guidelines are general in nature and do not replace medical advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Broken capillaries on face, often appearing as small red or purple vessels, can be addressed using targeted laser technology. This process uses light energy to collapse the visible vessel, which may help to clear the complexion and improve overall skin tone. For a detailed guide on managing these concerns, please refer to our article on How to Get Rid of Broken Capillaries on the Face.

Vascular laser treatment is a non-invasive procedure designed to target the haemoglobin in visible blood vessels. By delivering precise wavelengths of light, the treatment may help reduce the appearance of redness, spider veins, and cherry angiomas without affecting the surrounding skin.
