1. What is Otoplasty?

While otoplasty procedures can be done at any age, the procedure should only be done when the cartilage has stabilised or the ear is fully grown. This can be between 5 and 10 years of age.. Otoplasty  often provides a much needed boost in confidence, whilst also preventing bullying or unwanted attention or people suffering as a result of their appearance.

2. How long does the otoplasty procedure take?

Otoplasty takes an average of 1-1.5 hours.  It is performed as day surgery which allows you to return home a few hours after the operation.  is done in a single day, which ensures that you can return home the very same day after the operation. 

3. What’s the recovery time post-Otoplasty? 

Otoplasty has minimal downtime ranging between 7-10 days. There is a bandage to be worn for the first 10 days post-surgery. You will then require a headband which is worn at night only for a further 6 weeks.  

4. Who is a candidate for otoplasty surgery?

Otoplasty is intended for people with prominent or protruding ears. Those with defects or deformities or frustrations about the shape or size of their ears. This can cause great distress for some people – many of whom are often teased about this condition starting in childhood.
